Sound Re-imaginings of the Renaissance developed through free-improvisation, minimalism, reductionism and drone.

Re: Chord: Air re-imagines compositions by renaissance composers from Europe, specifically: England, Italy, Spain, Germany and The Netherlands.IMG_93851

The Renaissance period in Europe marked a cultural and artistic movement between 1300 – 1700. In 2015 the chords, melodies and harmonic essences of rarely heard works are re-visited and re-interpreted under the fingers of diverse collaborators, using both historical and contemporary instruments and techniques.

Musician’s from diverse musical backgrounds including both trained and self-taught professional musicians. Fragments of scores are improvised upon to create spontaneous new works both in live performance and recordings.

Instant Composition | Improvisations | Research-based interpretations
After a period of research, collaborations have been developed and explored with reductionist or graphic scores from which to perform and create.

Things Learnt & Things Forgotten
We play what we could see and what couldn’t be seen… the air between the notes… between the rhythms and…  between the performers. Music which is no longer of a certain time and no longer certain of time and which now exists as a re-imagining.
